Recipe Archive Update.

There are now over 500 recipes in the RECIPE ARCHIVE. Recipes from posts to the end of December 2006 have been added.

It is now time for another Recipe Feature. There are special collections of recipes for potatoes, coffee (as an ingredient), gingerbread, and Christmas dishes in this archive. What next?. If you have any special requests or suggestions, please leave a comment on this post, or email me.

Now THAT is a theme close to my heart. We will do that, definitely. Any other ideas out there, for those of you reading this? There's no reason why we cant have several on the go at once.

Wow, Janet! Now that is impressive! I think you've set it up just perfect.

I have a question may be you or Nene can answer: Why/when did the word "receipt" change to "recipe"?

Good job Janet.

Hello Sally, It seems to have been a gradual process of overlap and substitution: 'recipe' was used very occasionally in the early eighteenth century, and 'receipt' used less and less often as the nineteenth century progressed, so that by the start of the 20th century 'receipt' had virtually died out. Strange, isnt it? why would we gradually change a perfectly suitable word?
